Inspection of gear reducers

When inspection of hard-to-reach areas like wind gear reducers is required, videoscopes are a great portable solution that meets exacting standards.

Industrial videoscopes are digital inspection tools that make it possible to observe, through LCD monitors, areas that would be impossible to reach without supports, such as the inside of an engine, turbines, aircraft or gear reducers.

They are easy to use and have advanced features: 3D modeling, high-resolution screen, and high-definition video and image recording.

How do these inspectors work?

To carry out inspection of gear reduction boxes remotely, videoscopes have a small sensor chip at the tip of their insertion tubes that allows them to record videos and acquire still images.

The sensor transmits these images to the LCD screen, where they are viewed by the inspector. Many modern videoscopes also contain a laser diode or LED light source located at the tip of the insertion tube for added precision.

This tool is also often used to visualize perforations, pipes, holes and cavities that are out of reach of other inspection devices, and is an economical alternative for examining engines in the automotive industry.

All these characteristics make videoscopes essential equipment for non-destructive testing in a wide variety of industrial sectors, and there are different models according to different needs. Olympus Latin America, a leading company in remote visual inspection technology, offers a wide range of equipment:
